Spring 2023 Newsletter: West Pennsboro Township Updates and Events

Hello West Pennsboro Township residents! We’re excited to share with you the latest news and events for Spring 2023 in our community. In this newsletter, we’ll cover the Board of Supervisors meeting dates, introduce our new Assistant Township Road Master, and highlight some key events and projects for the upcoming season.

Employee Spotlight: Michael Kinsler

We’re pleased to introduce our new Assistant Township Road Master, Michael Kinsler. Mike brings valuable experience to the Highway Department, having served as an Assistant Township Road Master in another municipality for five years. When he’s not working, Mike enjoys hunting and spending time with his family. Welcome, Mike!

Credit Card Payments Now Accepted

West Pennsboro Township is now accepting most credit cards for permits, rentals, plan applications, sewer bill payments, and other fees and charges. Please note that a convenience fee will be charged for these transactions.

2023 Meeting Dates

The Board of Supervisors, Planning Commission, Municipal Authority, and Recreation Advisory Council have all set their meeting dates for 2023. Please refer to the newsletter for specific dates and times.

2023 Projected Road Projects

The township has several road projects planned for 2023, including resurfacing and overlaying, shoulder construction, tar and chipping, and right-of-way maintenance. Street sweeping will occur at the end of March through April and after oil and chipping projects.

Recreation Advisory Board Updates

The Ga Ga Pit was constructed in the park in 2022, and the concession stand is now complete and available for rental. For more information on using the township’s multi-purpose fields and softball fields, please contact the township office.

Voting Information

For any questions or concerns regarding voting, please contact the Cumberland County Bureau of Elections at 717-240-6385.

2023 Septic Pumping

Residents living along specific roads are required to have their septic pumped in 2023, per the On-lot Disposal System Ordinance #2007-03. Visit the township website for a list of registered haulers.

Cumberland County 2023 Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Program

Participants must sign up for an appointment in advance for the 2023 Cumberland County Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Program. Visit the Cumberland County website or call 717-240-6489 to make an appointment.

2023 Tire Collection

The Cumberland County 2023 Tire Collection is scheduled for May 15th, 16th, and 17th from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm at the Cumberland County Recycling Center. Pre-registration is required.

Fire and EMS Services

The Friendship Hose Co. #47 of Newville and West Pennsboro Volunteer Fire Company #46 provide 24-hour emergency fire and EMS services to our community. For more information on events and volunteer opportunities, please visit their respective websites.

Vector Control Weights & Measures

As we gear up for the 2023 West Nile & Tick Seasons, Cumberland County Vector Control encourages residents to prepare by clearing yards of standing water and wearing appropriate clothing and repellent.
